Needs List for Ghana 2009-2010
Christ Church in Akropong
- $2500 per year to fully support the Aged Program (senior citizens of the town)
- Medical supplies (please contact us before donating)
- Christian Education Supplies (Christian resource books, study guides, Sunday School supplies - prefer ones that depict Africican or African-American illustrations.
- Akropong Youth Center (funding abstinence, anti-drug, anti-tobacco, HIV/AIDS programs, technological training (computers))
- Video Camera
Building Projects for the Town of Akropong
- Senior Center for the town of Akropong (~$30,000 US)
- Vocational School building fund - building has been started but funds have run out to finish the building project (~$5,000 - $10,000 US)
Akropong Blind School - one of two in the country of Ghana - serves 300+ students
- Braille Writing Templates - (~$10 US each)
- Type-Set Machines (~$150 US each)
- Braille Books (childrens, stories and education resources)
- Large Sized Legos - Duplo - tactile activity for primary grades
- Musical Toys or real instruments - cannot send electronic ones
- General donations for educational fees (tuition)- $75 pays for a full year of school
Demonstartion School - The gifted school for junior high grade levels
- Textbooks- especially math, science - no US or Indiana history or social studies
- Laptop Computers
- Video Camera
- School fees- tuition - $50 pays for a year of school
Aprie Congregation, Kumasi Region - small community, very poor
- Funds for construction of school for town children (~$5,000)
SPANCO Orphanages -in Kumasi Region - homeless children whose parents have died from AIDS
- Clothes, toys and basic supplies
- Funds for food - children eat once a day
- School tution fees - $20 pays one ENTIRE school year
- Trade School Fees - $100 pays for TWO years of vocational training
