Communities of Faith for Ghana
How COF Ghana Began
In 2004, Steve Poston began a two-year Lay Pastor study course through the Presbyterian Church (USA) program in northern Indiana. His roommate was a man from Ghana - James Acquaah, who had established a Presbyterian Chruch of Ghana in downtown Chicago. A friendship developed and soon both the Ghana Chicago congregation and the West Lebanon Trinity Presbyterian congregation of Indiana became frequent worshippers together. In Septmeber 2006, both men and their families decided to emabrk on a mission trip to Ghana. In November of 2006, James and Steve graduated from their Lay Pastor studies program.
Plans were made with James to go to Ghana for a two week mission exploratory trip. As plans began to develop, the Hunter family joined the team and 10 members committed to travel to Ghana.
The main leaders of the mission group are: Steve Poston, Mindy Hunter, James Acquaah and Kathy Poston. This team is dedicated to the partnership between America and Ghana in helping our fellow brothers and sisters in need focusing on health, education and technology.
